The Internet is a valuable source of information and educational resources for research, investigation, acceleration, remediation, practice and enrichment.  To learn about the Internet, how to use it and conduct effective searches, click on the links below.

Search Engines
Search Engines use computer programs called spiders or robots to crawl the Web and log the words on each page. With a search engine, keywords related to a topic are typed into a search "box."

Ask Vox Search engine with a talking interface
Bing A search engine that finds and organizes the answers you need so you can make faster, more informed decisions.
Digg Community-based news article popularity website. News stories and websites are submitted by users, and then promoted to the front page through a user-based ranking system.
Gigablast,  Founded 2000, advanced search features, topic generation, alternate between web search and subject directory search
Google  One of the most popular search engines on the Internet, search for audio, images, maps, news and much more
Sputtik Organizes and selects the best resources and applications on the web
Tagedu Find educational resources and sites with a simple tagging system
UJIKO Results presented in a central circle as well as in rows surrounding the circle. The setup allows you to drill down into the categories in the circle or click on actual results on either side, which can be marked as favorites.

Meta Search Engines
Search several major engines at once. Meta-search engines do not crawl the Web or have their own database, they act as a middle agent, passing on the query to the major engines and then returning the results.

Subject Directories
A catalog of sites collected and organized by subject.  Subject directories are often called subject "trees" because they start with a few main categories and then branch out into subcategories, topics, and subtopics.
